Get To Know MUA Rups

Want to get to know the incredible special effects makeup artist @Makeupbyups? We thought so too. We sit down with the incredibly talented MUA Rupinder and ask her all the MUA questions we are dying to know, from her favourite product to her career so far. Keep scrolling to see what we found out...

1. How/when did you get into doing special effects makeup?

I started normal makeup in 2015 - I always wanted to be a makeup artist so I decided to start practicing and posting my looks on Instagram. I then started discovering body painters on Instagram and started copying their work to practice - and it all went from there...
 
2. Roughly how long does a creative makeup look take?
 
It completely depends on the look but on average around 8 hours.
 
 3. What is the craziest look you have ever created?
 
  
I've been wanting to re create this iconic @michael_hussar character for so so long! I didn't get the skin colours correct (it was so hard trying to figure out the right tone!) but I'm happy with how this turned out. I made the headpiece from model magic and sewed the ruffles myself. 4. What advice would you give to someone wanting to get into creative makeup/ special effects makeup?
 
I have three words, practice, practice, practice!
 
 5. What’s the highlight of your makeup career so far?
 
Getting interviewed by BBC News in March 2018 and then seeing the interview on BBC news India. You can see the interview here.
 

 6. Share the secret babe, what’s the best way to remove all that makeup? 

 A good cleansing oil and a bit of elbow grease in the shower! I’m currently using the cleansing oil from @bybibeauty - it’s 100% natural and full of so many nourishing ingredients for the skin. Go check it out!

 7. What makeup product can you not live without? 

Lipstick!! I love all of the NYX suede matte lipstick range - my favourite is probably Lolita.

8. Your fave current 4th & Reckless item one the website?

I love so many pieces but The Formation bodysuit for sure!
