Galentine's Day
With Valentine’s Day swiftly approaching, many of us who are less lucky in love (ie; SINGLE AF) can’t help but feel left out with all the festivities going on around us. Galentine’s is the perfect way to join in and celebrate your best girls and devote a whole day to spending quality time together (single or not!). The team at 4th & Reckless have pulled together some of our favourite things to do in Manchester to give you a foolproof list of fun and affordable ideas, perfect for a Galentines day or night out.
FOOD
First things first…food. Obviously we’re looking to avoid the cliché haunts of Valentines, meaning romantic restaurants are off the cards. At the minute we’re loving Cultureplex, conveniently located a short walk from Piccadilly Station on Ducie Street, it’s the ideal location to escape the crowds and enjoy some food (and drinks obviously). There’s something for everyone at Cultureplex; They offer a range of food options, vegan/vegetarian included, guaranteed to get your night off to a great start. Try the twice baked soufflé with truffled cream to start and you can’t leave without trying the pannacotta for dessert. Not only is the food insane, but the cocktail list is just as enticing. Our fave is the Popperwell prosecco cocktail with peaches and rum, take our word for it and thank us later.
DRINKS
Next up we’ve picked the ideal bar for an instagramable night out. Grand Pacific is the new “it” venue, perched on the corner of King Street on the second floor. This spot is perfect for a few sophisticated Galentines drinks with your gang. Choose from an array of cocktails, sparkling wines and bar snacks (if we were you we’d go for the Rose & Lychee Martini). The good news is you only have a few meters to stumble before you inevitably end up in Rossos afterwards…
ACTIVITY
Of course on Galentine’s you’re going to need a fun activity for you and your pals to get involved with. We need something off the beaten track and away from the typical Valentine’s haunts. We’ve done our research and found the ultimate cult film Bridesmaids being aired at Victoria Baths…perfect right?! Not only will there be a pop-up cinema, there’s a bar, a variety of street food trucks and live DJ to provide entertainment all night long. Sip your prosecco, sit back and relax.
BRUNCH
Is there anything that screams Galentines more than brunch? We thought not. We’ve found the ultimate spot for you…Grindsmith. Situated on Bridge Street, Grindsmith is a popular destination for Manchester coffee fiends and interior addicts alike. Not only does it serve up all the brunch essentials, it’s highly instagramable (we all know you girls love a slow mo maple syrup pour). Try the French toast with poached pears and Chantilly cream – it’s 4th & Reckless approved.
TREAT YOURSELF – SPA DAY
To make sure you get the best out of your ultimate girls day out, why not treat yourselves to a relaxing spa day at the Midland Hotel where you can enjoy a range of treatments from facials to manicures. Take some time to unwind in the pool and afterwards have some girl talk in the private floating pods.
